Where is advertising performance being lost?
Start by locating the stage that needs attention. A campaign can reach people without bringing relevant visitors, a page can attract visitors without explaining the consultation, and reception can receive enquiries without recording an outcome. Each problem requires a different response.
Create one reporting view for a defined period and service. Include paid spend, landing-page visits, valid enquiries and the appointment outcomes your clinic can verify. Mark missing connections openly. Do not infer bookings from clicks or combine incompatible counts to create a larger result.
How should a clinic choose the channel?
Choose a channel according to the service, the audience it can appropriately reach and the clinic’s ability to respond. Search advertising may reach people expressing a relevant need. Social advertising may introduce a service or help explain it. Organic search and the website continue to support research between those interactions.
Write down the hypothesis and spending limit before starting a test. Google Ads management and social media advertising should share an accurate destination and agreed conversion definitions, while keeping their own policy and measurement limitations visible. Avoid copying an audience strategy without checking treatment sensitivity and permitted data use.
What should an enquiry report contain?
Keep raw platform actions and reconciled enquiries in separate columns. Record the date, service, source where reliable, assigned owner and next step. Exclude known internal tests and supplier messages from prospect totals. Preserve duplicates in the source evidence, but explain how any unique-enquiry total was reconciled.
Ask the clinic to distinguish unanswered calls, contact made, suitable enquiries, bookings and attendance. Use the same enquiry cohort when calculating progression. A booking made this month from an older enquiry should not silently be treated as a conversion of this month’s new enquiries.
Which correction should happen first?
Where traffic is irrelevant, review query intent, message and targeting. Where the service is unclear, improve the advertisement and landing page. Where a relevant enquiry goes unanswered, repair response ownership before increasing traffic. Where tracking is unreliable, fix the event definition and preserve an honest baseline.
The advertisement briefing guide covers message and destination checks. Enquiry follow-up addresses the administrative handover. Clinical suitability, triage and treatment advice remain with the clinic’s qualified team.
How should results be presented?
Show the dates, spend, source and definition beside a performance figure. Explain whether an improvement concerns visibility, platform actions or clinic-confirmed outcomes. Compare like-for-like periods where possible, and record changes in budget, services, tracking or appointment capacity that could affect the comparison.
Read our published campaign evidence for examples of reporting with explicit limits. Selected historical results are not a prediction for another clinic. A low cost per platform conversion can coexist with weak enquiry quality or incomplete follow-up.
What needs approval before an advertising change?
Confirm the service, wording, imagery, destination, audience eligibility and spending limit. Use current ASA guidance on cosmetic interventions and the relevant platform rules. Keep the clinic’s clinical approval and the campaign manager’s delivery checks together.
